OUR MISSION
The service of the Pre-K Plus is an extension of Zion's mission. The program strives to provide childcare in a safe, healthy, and Christian environment; to promote a relaxing and enjoyable place for children to stay while their parents are away; and to provide experience that encourages intellectual, social, emotional, spiritual, and physical development.
NON-DISCRIMINATION STATEMENT
Zion Lutheran School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origins to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies and athletic and other school administered programs.
PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF POLICIES
It is very important that the staff at Zion Lutheran know who will be dropping off and picking up your child(ren). If the parent/guardian or other authorized person is unable to pick up/drop off, the parent/guardian needs to let the office know as soon as possible, and proper ID will be used for the safety of all. The office will then notify teachers of the change.
To ensure safety and proper billing, parents/guardians are required to sign their own child in or out. Staff will not do this for you. You need to bring the child into the room to drop off and come in to pick up.
LATE PICK-UP
Pre-Kindergarten Extended Day closes at 6:00 pm. If a parent is late picking up his/her child(ren), the parent will be charged $5.00 for the first 10 minutes late and $5.00 for every minute after 10 minutes.
TAX STATEMENTS
Individualized tax statements listing the total amount of childcare receipt per family will be prepared upon request. They will be available by February 1. Please request this information from Ms. Albers or Mrs. Loveless.
NUTRITION
Snacks are offered to provide the child with a pleasant, restful interval and to give him/her nourishment. During the school year your child will be able to eat a hot lunch through the school or they may bring their lunch. Meals will be served in the school cafeteria.
REST
Our daily program is planned to allow quiet activities, such as listening to stories or music following our active play period. Each child is guided to take a nap or rest quietly on his/her cot after lunch. Parents are asked to take their child's blanket and/or pillow case home and wash them as needed.
ILLNESS
A child who shows evidence of potential illness such as runny nose, red eyes, rash, sore or raw throat, vomiting, diarrhea, skin eruptions (i.e. poison ivy, head lice, feverish skin, etc.) should be kept home. Children should be 24 hours fever free before returning to school! If a child becomes ill during the day, the parents will be notified and provision for removal of the child from the Center need to be made. If a child is sent home, he/she is not to return until free of symptoms. The director of primary care giver has the right to refuse admission if it is felt the child is not healthy. If the child is taking a prescription medication and in the doctor's judgment the child is able to attend the Early Childhood Center, he/she will be accepted. Medication may be administered at the Center, provided that it is properly labeled with the child's name, the name of the drug, and the direction for administration. Directions must be given in writing on a daily basis. Parents are responsible for filling out a Medication Authorization form found at the Center.
CLOTHING
Since accidents will happen, an extra change of clothes, including underwear and socks should be brought to the Early Childhood Center. Please label each article with the child's name to avoid confusion. When soiled or wet clothing is sent home, please be sure to send replacements the following day. The Early Childhood Center cannot assume responsibility for lost clothing.
CHRISTIAN DISCIPLINE
A unique characteristic of Zion Lutheran School/Preschool Plus is that its discipline goals, and procedures are rooted in scriptural understandings of Christians and sin. Zion families can be assured that God's promises are dependable and certain. At our school, the teacher's goal of good behavior is viewed with the understanding of a student's growth as a a child of God. Zion Preschool Plus reserves the right to request the removal of a child whose adjustment within the group is or becomes difficult within a reasonable length of time. Every effort will be made to re-direct a child's inappropriate behavior. Time-out will be used only if re-direction does not work. Frequent director-parent conferences serve as a buffer against difficulties. Conferences with the director, principal, and possibly pastor, can be scheduled if needed.
EMERGENCY INFORMATION
Please be sure the Early Childhood Center is kept-up-to-date on your home address, telephone number, business telephone and other emergency information. If any information should change, please notify the Center.
